When Is Scorpio Season? A Custom Board for the Scorpio in Your Life

It’s Scorpio season. If someone you love has a birthday between late October and late November, you already know the type. Quiet, sharp, a little mysterious, and they notice everything.

This board was made for one of them, a coworker who knew exactly what they wanted. We sent over four design options, and instead of picking one, they mixed and matched elements from each until it was just right. Very Scorpio of them. They also asked us to add their birth year, 1979, so the finished piece is completely theirs.

If you read about our first custom board [link to Aries post], this is the same idea, built for a very different sign.

When Is Scorpio Season?

Scorpio season runs from October 23 to November 21. The start can shift by a day from year to year, since it follows the date the Sun moves into the sign.

Scorpio is the eighth sign of the zodiac. It comes after Libra and before Sagittarius. It’s a fixed water sign, ruled by Pluto, with Mars as its traditional ruler.

Water signs feel things deeply. Fixed signs don’t change their minds easily. Put those together, and you get someone who is loyal for life and who will also remember exactly what you said in 2014.

The Scorpio Symbol

The Scorpio symbol is the scorpion. Its written glyph looks like a lowercase m with an arrow on the tail, a nod to the stinger.

The scorpion fits. It keeps a low profile; it isn’t looking for trouble, and you really don’t want to step on it.

That’s why the scorpion takes up most of this board. Tail curled up, claws out, with a scatter of stars around it for the night sky. The name and birth year sit below it in a bold script.

Scorpio Personality: What Kind of Cook and Host Are They?

Scorpio traits come through loud and clear in the kitchen. Here’s what to expect.

They have a secret recipe, and they’re not sharing it. Ask for the chili recipe, and you’ll get a smile and a change of subject. Maybe it’ll be in the will.

It’s all or nothing. A Scorpio either orders takeout or spends two days on a braise. There is no weeknight middle ground.

They host small, and they host deep. Forget the big open house. A Scorpio invites six people they trust, and the night ends with everyone around the kitchen island at midnight, talking about life.

They notice everything. If you swapped the brand of butter, they’ll know. If you forgot the salt, they’ll know that too, and they’ll quietly fix it.

They like it moody. Dark plates, candles, a playlist they made for the occasion. Dinner at a Scorpio’s house feels like a little bit of a secret.

They don’t do it halfway. They’ll read every review before buying a knife, and then keep that knife for 20 years. Same goes for the board it’s used on.

About This Board

This is a 10×15 bamboo board with the Scorpio design burned into the wood. We use a heat reaction that darkens the bamboo itself, so the design is part of the board. It won’t peel, lift, or wash away.

The board is two-sided on purpose. The design side faces up for serving, so it works as a charcuterie board when people come over. The plain back is the side for cutting. Cutting on the design would wear it down, so flip it over for prep and flip it back for the table.

It’s finished in a clear butcher block oil, which makes it food-safe and ready for real use.

Scorpio Gift Ideas That Actually Land

Shopping for a Scorpio is tricky. They can spot a last-minute gift from across the room, and they’d rather have one thing that means something than a pile of things that don’t.

A few things to keep in mind when picking out Scorpio gifts:

  • Make it personal. A name, a birth year, a date that matters. Scorpios care about the details, so the details are the gift.
  • Make it last. Skip the novelty stuff. Pick something they’ll still be using years from now.
  • Make it useful. Scorpios respect things that earn their place. A board that serves at the party and handles prep the next morning fits right in.

That works for Scorpio gifts for her and Scorpio gifts for him alike. It’s also an easy pick for October birthday gift ideas and November birthdays, since the whole season lands right before the holidays.

Keeping It in Good Shape

Hand wash only, never the dishwasher. Dry it standing on its edge instead of lying flat. Re-oil it whenever the surface starts to look dry, which is usually every few weeks with regular use and more often in winter. Learn more in our cutting board care guide.
